Introduction
The Rainman pressure control needle valve is engineered as a premium, long‑lasting component, but certain operating conditions can gradually impair its performance or even lead to leakage. It is uncommon, but some of the issues include salt crystal accumulation on the contact surface of the internal rubber O‑ring and the gradual loss of thread lubrication due to extended use. This manual is not intended as a routine annual maintenance guide, but it provides corrective procedures to follow whenever valve performance becomes questionable, helping to restore functionality and avoid premature replacement of this critical part.
Video Tutorial
Take the guesswork out of needle valve maintenance with this easy demo. You’ll see how to disassemble, clean, lubricate, and reassemble your valve so it keeps running smoothly.
Step by Step Procedure
- Hold the valve body securely and loosen the retaining nut using an adjustable wrench and 18 mm spanner (wrench).
- Unlock the handle bar from the valve needle using 2.5mm Allen key and fully undo previously loosened retaining nut.
4. Clean the needle, retaining nut and valve body thoroughly using a soft brush with degreaser or methylated spirits.
5. Apply a light fresh layer of grease to all surfaces that make contact.
6. Insert the needle back into the retaining nut – ensuring the needle is fully screwed in.
7. Align the handle screw with the flat side of the valve needle and tighten it firmly. Reinstall this assembly into the valve body.
8. Tighten the assembly back together using adjustable wrench and an 18 mm spanner.
Your valve assembly is now ready to be installed back into manual control panel or RO unit directly.
