Watermaker installation tutorial for Rainman AC Naked on Warrior 38 (Northern Europe)

sail life

Mads from Denmark sold his house and has been extensively refitting his 1987 Warrior 38′ sailing yacht. A watermaker was one of the later projects he needed to complete.

He extensively researched the five main styles of watermakers.

  1. AC powered
  2. DC powered
  3. DC + energy recovery
  4. Petrol / gasoline powered
  5. Engine drive

watermaker decision types

Eventually he decided upon a Rainman AC watermaker, opting for the Naked version for installation. To maximise the ease of use, he also opted for the optional Control Panel with the Autoflush System.

I spent a lot of time lurking in various water maker facebook groups and online forums just to see what’s out there and to me it seems like Rainman has a stellar reputation and they’ve been around for a really long time. They’ve managed to strike a good balance between having good quality parts but not having the price be super high and they’ve also managed to find a good balance between keeping the system simple yet smart.

Being a software developer, Mads took a structured and well organised approach to the installation process. This video provides an excellent comprehensive tutorial on the installation process he followed for his Rainman watermaker.

Mads, we’re wishing you the best of luck on your future endeavours, and trust that you and your Rainman will share many great adventures together.
